In fact, they paid a pretty penny at a Christie's auction in NYC on Tuesday for the blinged out piece of jewelry. At least that may be the case for Kris Humphries, who still has his hands on the massive diamond ring that was previously given to ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
According Daily Mail reports, the NBA player, who won the 16-carat rectangular-cut diamond ring in the couple's June 2012 divorce, is hoping to cash in on the jewelry this fall via private auction. The bauble cost a cool $2 million at the time of purchase and is now valued at a mere $300,000 to $500,000.
A diamond sparkler matching the same description is anonymously being auctioned off by Christie's in New York, and we can't help but wonder if this is, in fact, the famous ring.
So is it or isn't it?
While we have yet to hear the official word from the athlete's camp, it does appear to be a pretty exact match, if you ask us! Either way, the new owner of that sizable sparkler is bound to be one lucky lady.
The Lorraine Schwartz custom piece is mysteriously listed as the 'property of a gentleman' with a portion of the proceeds to benefit a charity.

When E! News contacted Christie's for clarification, the company declined to comment and stated that they have a strict client confidentiality policy.

Kim Kardashian's 20-carat engagement ring has sold at auction for a cool $749,000(approximately Ksh.60 million).
The enormous diamond ring, given to the reality star by ex-husband Kris Humphries, was purchased by an as-yet unknown buyer at Christie's in New York City on Tuesday.
Bidding for the 16.21 carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond began at $200,000 at the auction, entitled 'Bright and Beautiful'.

The ring, which features two 1.8 carat side diamonds, will end up costing the buyer $749,000 taking into account the auction house's mark-up.
'As the finale of the morning session, Lot 194 saw active participation in the room, on the phone banks, and from Christie's LIVE,' the auction house spokesman Gabriel Ford told Mail Online.
'This impressive diamond ring was sought out by 2 bidders in the back of the room, one online bidder and was ultimately won by a bidder on the phone.'

It was confirmed last month that Kris was selling the ring which was originally reported to have cost $2 million.

But following the estimate of Christie's jewellery experts, it appears that he paid far less for the ring than reported at the time.
Bad publicity surrounding the Humphries-Kardashian divorce may have had an effect on the sale.
